Lately...

I hate missing a day, but sometimes the day just gets away from me. Know what I mean? And by the time Hudson's down for bed, all I want to do is head the same route.

So, what have y'all been up to?

Here's our last few days in iPhone pictures...

We went out for some Friday night froyo. (love that there's a shop 3 minutes from our house!)
Someone else loves it, too. ;) "Forget the picture, this stuff is awesome, mom!"

I busted out my favorite sandals for the first time this year.

Uncle Adam(Joseph's brother) & Aunt Kerrie came up to see us Saturday. We hung around the house and went to eat dinner at Baumhower's. They really enjoyed the time with Hudson...and so did he!!
We always love getting together with them.

We also sported our big brother shirt for the first time. We planned on announcing it this way, but once we found out it was TWINS, that changed things. ;-)

We did a little rearranging in the bedroom. This TV was on the other wall REALLY close to the bed. This is SO much better and opens things up better where the TV was.

For some reason, I had a hankering for spinach dip. I whipped up some hot spinach dip in about 5 minutes with ingredients I had on-hand. It was pretty dang good!

I made a delicious dinner last night of green bean bundles,

homemade au gratin potatoes, and Joseph picked up some KFC grilled chicken to go with it.

My Zoya Blogger Collection came in! Got it with my Birchbox points and I LOVE these colors! Perfect for Spring/Summer.

I've gotten all of Hudson's party stuff printed out, cut out, and ready to put together. It's going to be SO stinkin' cute!! Even though it means my baby is turning TWO and getting older, I really can't wait for it!

For tonight's dinner, I reused leftovers from last night's dinner of chicken and au gratin potatoes and put together a chicken pot pie. YUM!! (I hope it's decent.)
I have no idea why the crust was falling apart. It'll still taste good after it's baked so that's all that matters. ;-)

Sometimes a catch-up post is needed. I hope your week is going great! If you were in the storm that passed through yesterday, I hope you and yours are OK. It didn't hit us too hard, thank goodness, but I know a lot of areas were hit pretty bad. Hoping you are all safe and sound, with no or minimal damage.

Semi-homemade Burlap Wreath

OK, the title is a little misleading. This wreath was mostly store-made, BUT I added a couple of my own touches to make it my own.

I bought a beautiful pink burlap wreath at Hobby Lobby the other day and had to have it. Partly because it happened to be 50% off and partly because I don't really have a pretty Spring/Summer wreath. It was a win-win!

It started out very simple and plain, so I bought a light-weight wooden "P", spray-painted it brown, then hot-glued it to the side. It needed a little pop of another color, so I just cut off a small strip of the green Greek key fabric I used as part of the Christmas tree skirt, and voila!!
It's not perfect by any means, but it'll do. It's great for Easter, Spring, and all the way through Summer!!

It was a quick, easy project that I had done in a matter of minutes. I like the idea of buying simple pieces, then adding my own touch to them to personalize them.

Have you done any little projects lately? I'd love to hear about them!

5 More Things...

My friend Catherine, over at Bailey Dailies, tagged me in a post to share 5 things about myself. Now, I've done random facts posts before so I will try to make sure these are all new things. Surely I'm not THAT random?!? HA! Who am I kidding? I totally am.

1. I've only been out of the country once. I went to London when I was a freshman in high school. Our band was invited to play in the New Year's parade. Pretty cool! Yes, I was in the band. Played clarinet and was on danceline. I also play the piano. Those are the only instruments I play, although I'd love to learn to play the guitar.
*a picture of a picture, 'cause well...I'm too lazy to go scan the picture to my computer*
A pic from my danceline days. That's me front and center. This was my Senior year, Fall of '01, about 11.5 years ago!!! WOW!! That's just crazy. And I thought I was fat back then. I was delusional.

2. I once had dreams of auditioning for American Idol. Then my husband told me I wouldn't make it. Yeah, so much for that dream. The truth hurts, I guess.('cause I would never make it, and I realize that!) Oh well. At least I know he's always honest with me. HA! Lucky for him, he gets to listen to all of my ridiculous singing in the car. :)

3. When I was around 2.5 or 3, I got this stuffed talking parrot for Christmas. I was absolutely OBSESSED with that thing. It eventually died and I'm pretty sure I was devastated.
Nowadays, I hate birds. Of all kinds. Bad experience with pigeons on above-mentioned London trip.
Oh, and I'm pretty sure it was after this picture that I fell and hit my head on that table. Made for a fun Christmas morning. Does that child remind you of anyone?

4. I was SO close to going to Veterinary school. I didn't end up going, obviously, for a couple of reasons. 1. Once I thought more about it, I knew it'd be entirely too emotional for me to see animals who weren't going to make it or had to be put down. I just couldn't handle it. I'm entirely too much of a softy for animals. 2. Going to vet school would've meant going to Auburn. Bleh. They have a GREAT vet school, but no thanks. ;-) In my next life, though...I've already decided I will be a surgeon.

5. Did y'all have to take a typing class in high school? We did and most of the students hated it. I LOVED it!! I think it's due to the fact that I am SUCH a nerd when it comes to writing, typing, grammar, spelling, English, etc. Seriously, y'all don't even know. Such a nerd. I'd like to write a book one day. Not on those topics, but something. I just LOVE writing. (hence the blog)
Maybe one day I can write a book on what it's like to raise a toddler and newborn twins!
That's considering I survive it myself, hahahaha!!
I'm thankful for that typing class today, though, because I can still type just as fast and accurately as I could back then. I could probably type an entire post without even looking down because my fingers have memorized the keyboard. I think that's a great skill to have.

OK, those are my 5 facts. Hope you enjoyed learning more random things about me. If you didn't, I really don't blame you. HAHA!

Be sure to check out my friend Catherine, as she is fabulous!

Have a wonderful, BEAUTIFUL weekend, friends!

Bloglovin'

You may or may not have heard today that Google Reader is being shut down. It will be effective July 1st. So, not too soon in the future, but nonetheless, if this is how you read my blog then it will affect you. Google Friend Connect will probably also be no more shortly after, which is the way most of you probably follow my blog.
Fortunately, there's an alternative, and it's one I've been using for a while now. I actually like it a lot. Bloglovin'. It's just another site that allows you to follow and read up on all the blogs you follow. Very simple and straight-forward.

I've noticed some of you have already followed me there, so thank you for that!! It means a lot that you're joining me over on that site too. If you haven't done so yet, please hit this little button to follow along on bloglovin'.
Follow on Bloglovin
You'll need to sign up if you haven't already, but it's super easy and you can even do so through Facebook to make logging in simple. You can also search other blogs you read and follow them as well if they're members of bloglovin', in case they don't have a follow button on their blog for you to click.

Thanks in advance!
Oh, and I'm still going to do a giveaway soon. I just wanted to take a little break from giveaways for a few weeks after participating in two recently. I'd love to know what types of things YOU'D like to see in a giveaway! Gift cards? What kind? Jewelry? Something else?
Lemme know.

Wednesday What-nots

Today hasn't been anything too exciting or eventful. Not at all, actually. But sometimes, that's OK. Hudson and I have been home all day, just hanging out. He's been attached to his mama today, and sometimes...that's OK, too. :-) I hit 11 weeks yesterday, and it seems that my morning sickness is a good bit better. Although, it really just depends on the day. Yesterday was not so good, but today I've felt pretty good. So good, in fact, that I decided I wanted some pasta salad. Now, don't ask me where that came from 'cause I have no idea. That's the funny thing about pregnancy cravings. They'll just hit you out of the blue. And when you want something, you WANT it!! So, I whipped up some pasta salad with stuff I had in the house.
I had to improvise on some things, but it hit the spot! (And still is!)
I normally put in tomatoes, cucumbers, green pepper, and sometimes onion (my hubby hates them but he's also not really a pasta salad fan so that works out for me. HA!) but since I didn't have all of those, I just used the celery and tomato. Olives would be good, but I loathe them. :) Artichokes would be great too! I also add in a little seasoned salt, garlic salt, grated parmesan cheese, and some zesty Italian dressing, and salt and pepper to taste. Chill and it's SO good and SO easy! I especially love this in the Summer.

While I was at it, I thought more chicken salad was needed too. I must be in a salad mood!
Straight out of the bowl with some crackers. That's how I roll.
BTW, if you've never tried the stand mixer trick for shredding your chicken...DO IT!! Works perfectly and saves so much time and sanity!
I like my chicken salad pretty simple. Mayo, grapes, celery, pecans, s & p to taste, and sometimes a pinch of sugar to get the perfect balance of sweet/salty.
Nom nom. Sadly, this is one I do have to share, unlike the pasta salad. That's OK, though.
I'm a good sharer. (most of the time)

Other than being a salad makin' machine, I've just done a lot of playing and cuddling with Hudson. Y'all, he LOVES his mama, and for that I'm so thankful. He loves to sit in my lap and watch Bubble Guppies, cuddle up next to me while playing his learning games on the iPad, etc. He's the sweetest thing ever. I am blessed.

This morning, he woke up with a major cowlick in his hair!
I've tried all day to lay it down to no avail. It cracks me up.

It's relaxed a little on its own throughout the day, but it still waves at you when Hudson walks your way. HAHA!

He thinks it's so funny that he decided to mess his hair up even more. I mean, why not?

While every day around here isn't always an adventurous, exciting time, it's the quiet days at home like this that I cherish the most, and I never want to forget.

I hope your Wednesday has been a great one as well, no matter how you've spent it!
