Weight Loss Update

I thought I'd give you a quick update on how my "diet" is going.

I've been doing this routine now for about 6.5 weeks or so, I think....I've kinda lost track, it could be 7. I'm not sure. :-) At any rate, I'm doing really well so far. I am down almost 17 pounds, under my pre-pregnancy weight, can fit back into all of my regular clothes and some clothes are even too big now! I'm actually fitting into some pants I didn't fit into a good while before getting pregnant. Woo hoo!! That is the BEST feeling! I'm almost 13 pounds away from my original goal, but I am going to revise my goal and go for another 5-10 pounds after that. I was in just about the best shape of my life when I got married a little over 5 years ago, and that is where I want to be again. I also want to take up running again and tone up.

I'm pretty proud of myself and I knew if I just committed to it, I'd make it happen. I'm not gonna lie, I'd KILL for a big bacon cheeseburger right now! I plan on rewarding myself with one, but not until I hit my original goal..so in about 13 more pounds. Of course, I'll get right back on track after that burger, but I do think it's important to reward yourself every now and then so you don't go out on a binge and completely ruin all your hard work. I also need to make sure I drink some Pepto or something beforehand because I can only imagine what that burger will do to my stomach. Eeek! It's not used to stuff like that anymore. ;-) I wish I had thought to take a "before" picture back when I started, but I totally forgot. I will put up a picture of me around the time I started, along with an "after" picture when it's all said and done, to compare.

And I can't leave without showing you this adorable video we made last night of Hudson and Bryant (our Boxer). It's hilarious!

Y'all have a great Thursday!

9 Months!!

I'm pretty sure someone is playing a cruel joke on me, because there's absolutely NO WAY my sweet baby is 9 months old! That's only 3 MONTHS away from his 1st birthday! 91 days!!! And because I am the Type A, super early planner/control freak that I am, it's probably time to start getting things together for his 1st birthday party. **Takes a moment to break down into sobs.**
OK, before I have an emotional meltdown, here's what you're up to this month, Hudson:

  • We don't go for your checkup until the 30th, but I weighed you last week and you were right at 20.5 lbs. I measured you(the best I could) and I got about 29 inches.
  • You wear a size 3 diaper and 9-12 month clothes.
  • You usually sleep about 10-10.5 hours a night...a few nights lately it's been as much as 11.5! You're usually in the bed around 7:30-8 and get up around 6-6:30, sometimes Momma will get lucky and you'll make it to 7 or 7:30. :-)
  • You drink 7 ounces of pumped breastmilk at about 7am, 11am, 3pm, and around 4-5 oz before bed. You're starting to take in less a day.
  • You are starting to eat 3 meals a day. Breakfast when you want it, and a fruit, veggie, or jarred meal for lunch and dinner. You also will have some puffs, arrowroot cookies, yogurt melts, or a few pieces of finger foods. You're getting more and more willing to try table foods.
  • You're great at feeding yourself with your fingers.
  • You are getting better with a sippy cup but I just offer you a tiny bit of juice every other day or so. You just love that bottle for now. (with milk in it ONLY!)
  • You take a 1.5-2 hour nap in the morning and afternoon.
  • You are a crawling machine and I am chasing you 24/7!
  • You pull up on anything and everything, and I mean that quite literally. It's amazing how little help you need now. You barely need the help of a table or other object anymore. You're very close to being able to stand up on your own I believe.
  • You cruise on everything you pull up on.
  • You walked the other night, using a box you were pushing.
  • You have recently started dancing to music. By dancing, I mean swaying back and forth or front to back. It's really cute.
  • You "talk" all the time and get pretty loud sometimes.
  • You call me "mama" a lot but have yet to say "dada". We're working on the "d" sound to encourage you.
  • I can see you trying to form other sounds to make words.
  • You laugh ALL THE TIME, especially at the dogs.
  • You know how to (and constantly do) turn the blu-ray player on and off, open it, and turn the video monitor on and off.
  • Every now and then, you'll say "Hey!" and wave bye-bye here and there...we're working on that one.
  • You have yet to be sick at all and for this, I am so thankful! I hope that continues.
  • You are so observant and listen to and watch everything.
  • You love playing with your toys, especially your shape sorter and singing puppy. You also love to ride on your zebra bike.
  • You still just have your two bottom teeth.
  • You like having some independent playtime in your pack 'n play or jumperoo, but let us know when you're done.
  • You love to help Mommy shop and hold her list.
  • You love to do the motorboat on your mouth with your hands.
  • You like to play peekaboo.
  • You are a ham and love to entertain everyone. You're so sweet, happy and smart, and you continue to amaze us with your wonderful personality. We are incredibly blessed by you every day and hope you know how much we love you. Now, if you could just stop growing up that'd be great. :-)

We love you SO SO much!!

Here are some pictures from our "photo session" today. It's more like a "follow the very active 9 month old around session". ;-)

I love the ones of Hudson and Bryant at the end!

# 14

There was never a doubt in my mind. I predicted it at the beginning of the season, as I did the beginning of the season 2 years ago when we won #13. I had a gut feeling and I was right. I never started doubting even when we lost to LSU the first time.

I wanted to be in NOLA so bad, but it was also nice to watch the game from the couch and not have to leave my baby boy. :) We were so close to getting to go to Pasadena 2 years ago but that didn't work out. So next time, we're going!!! I'm going to start saving up now! ;-)

So, that's all. I won't gloat too much about it, but I'm just SO proud of the team, that they were able to come back from their loss(that never should have been) and SHUT OUT their opponent in a re-match. What a great season! Now we have to wait 8 more months for more college football. Boo.

RTR!!

New Year, New Me!

I don't really make New Year's resolutions, because I've found I never stick to them. For months now, I've been wanting to lose weight but just haven't been committed to it. About 3.5 weeks ago, I started a new eating plan. I've considered joining WW online, Jenny Craig, or even trying Nutrisystem. Most of them are just way too much money and I really wanted to be able to do it on my own, because I feel that's the way to do it right, for the long-term....for me, anyway. Well, I stumbled upon this blog (I've gotten a few fonts from it, and you may have seen it before, yourself). She shares her weight loss story here and it makes sense. So, I decided to give it a try but I am consuming around 1400-1500 calories a day, instead of 1200. I'm still pumping and 1200 just seemed a little too extreme for me. I count my calories using the "Calorie Counter" app on my iphone. It's free and has a huge database full of ALL kinds of foods! For breakfast, I have some cheerios (Honey Nut, Multigrain, or the Oat Clusters she talks about and they are really good!) I measure how much I put in the bowl, usually have a banana also and can still have my morning cup of coffee with the delicious creamer I love so much. For lunch, I have a Smart Ones meal. If you've never tried these, you should. They are delicious!! The breakfast entrees are very good too, as well as the desserts. For dinner, I usually cook something that's relatively healthy and I'll have a small portion of that and a small salad with fat free Italian dressing. I'll admit, we have a lot of Stouffer's, Bertolli, and Wanchai Ferry meals, and those make it easy to count the calories. Usually half of the bag has around 350-400 cals. I usually have a little less than half of the package.

This plan has worked wonderfully for me so far. So far, I've lost a little over 10 pounds!!! I'm 1/3 of the way to my goal and am so excited! Now don't get me wrong, I still eat out once in a while. Saturday we went to Sonic and I had a New York dog(350 cal) and a few tots. Restaurants make it so easy to count calories now. Just about all of them put their nutrition info on their websites. The cal counter app also has SO many restaurants in it for you to use as a reference as you order.

I'm really excited about seeing my body transform. I can already tell a huge difference in how my clothes fit(I can wear things I haven't worn in MONTHS or over a YEAR!) and how my body looks. I am so ready to get healthy and in better shape and am looking to tone up once I lose the weight. I want to get in the best shape of my life and 2012 will be the year for it! I can't wait to see what the year has in store for me and my precious family. I'm excited about the memories to be made! I hope you all have a blessed 2012! Happy Hump Day! :-)

And because every blog post is better with a picture......
