What Can I Say?.....

If you had a choice between blogging and spending time with this precious baby which one would you choose?!?!
Yeah...that's what I thought! HA!

Well, little Hudson is 10 days old today and that is so hard to believe! He's almost 2 weeks old!! I feel like this can't be possible. He has changed SO much since the day he was born. I swear he changes a little every day and I discover something new about him. He loves to make silly faces, especially in his sleep. He also likes to smile and laugh...which I know is totally involuntary, but it lights my face up every time. He loves to sleep with his arms up by his head and he kicks his feet out from under the covers.
One of his favorite places to sleep is on your chest.
I love when he falls asleep on me. The sweetest thing in the world!

He has the prettiest dark blue/gray eyes, which is the LAST color I expected my child's eyes to be! I had eyes black as coal when I was born, but apparently Joseph had very dark blue eyes. They eventually changed to dark brown, so I assume Hudson's will do that too. I also had black hair when I was born, before it fell out and grew back later, and Joseph and I both have almost black hair so I was expecting that on Hudson too.'s brown. I'm thinking it will darken, or fall out and grow back darker. I think he's beautiful just the way he is, but I expect his features to change in the next year or so. You can sort of see his eyes in this picture.
He spent his first Easter at home with us, but my parents and grandmother came up with a huge feast for us all to eat. It was so delicious and they enjoyed spending some time with the little man.
He got dressed up in his bunny rabbit gown and was a great host. He did what he does best (during the day anyway).....slept! ;)

Obviously I have a lot of blogging to do to catch you all up. I have been so busy with Hudson, visitors, and now the big storms in Alabama, that I just haven't had the chance to sit down and type one out. We are without power in Huntsville so Hudson and I packed up and came down to Gadsden to stay with my parents until we have power back. Joseph came down yesterday evening but has to go back tomorrow so he can help out with claims and such in Huntsville. Hopefully we'll have power back in a few days and we can get our little family back together and get back in a routine. I was really emotional about having to be apart from Joseph, and having to keep his brand new son from him. I know tomorrow will be emotional too. It breaks my heart that my poor baby has been uprooted from his home after just a few days of life. I'm so ready to get him home for good!

I have many more posts planned, such as the birth story, with tons of good pictures. I will work on them and try to have the birth story up tomorrow or Monday.

On that note, I leave you with one last picture......seriously, always sleeping....during the day! HA! ;)
Please continue to keep those impacted by the horrible tornadoes in your thoughts and prayers. It is hard to comprehend what has happened here. I still think I'm going to wake up from a bad dream any minute. There is just total devastation everywhere, homes have been lost and destroyed, families have become homeless, lives have been lost. I just can't wrap my head around it. It makes me really realize how blessed I am to have a roof over my head, my loved ones in my life, and if a lack of power and being displaced for a few days is all I have to deal with, then I count myself abundantly blessed beyond measure.

Have a wonderful weekend everybody!

  1. Stay safe and enjoy that new baby boy!! I hope I can say the same in January!! :)
