So.....this is really happening.....

Today we bought Hudson's furniture!....Did I really just type that? Whoa! This is gettin' real. My parents came down today and we went to lunch and did some furniture shopping. We are extremely fortunate, and thankful, that our parents have offered to buy the furniture! Have I mentioned how blessed we are?!?! We could never repay our parents for all they've done for us. Joseph and I went furniture "looking" the day we found out we were having a boy, and we pretty much picked out what we wanted. We went back today and ordered it. We got really lucky because all but 2 pieces(nightstand and mirror) are in stock and will be delivered on FRIDAY!!! WHAT!?! I'm going to have baby furniture in my house in 6 days??!?!?!?! Let me take a deep breath right quick......

So, here's what we decided to go with....
It is the Majestic collection by Munire. We knew when we saw it the first time, it was what we wanted. We love the color, and how simple and masculine it is(since it's for a boy), yet it still has some detail to it. It is so pretty in person....the photo doesn't do it justice! We didn't get the armoire, but we did get the flat-top crib, the dresser (w/a hutch to put on top), nightstand, 5 drawer dresser, and a mirror (for later). We also got the guardrails for converting it into a toddler bed, and the conversion kit for turning it into a full-size bed. It sounds like a lot of furniture, but it's really only 4 pieces (crib, dresser/hutch combo, dresser, and nightstand). We wanted to make sure we got all the pieces we'd want him to have as he gets older....not just for the first few years. I really wanted something I could put cute things on....picture frames, other cute knickknacks, and the many, many books I have(I did teach for a little while) that we can read to him and he can one day read to himself...and us! :-) The dresser under the hutch will serve as the changing table too! I wanted a nightstand he can use by his bed when he's older, but we can use it now by the glider/rocker to put our drinks, phones, etc. on as we're feeding him or putting him to sleep. The dresser will be great for extra storage, and to put a little TV on top. ;)

We are so grateful to our parents for this wonderful gift they have given us!! We (and Hudson) will love it for years(and years) to come!!

Bedding is the next thing on the list! We're going to have the bedding made by a lady in Homewood. We met her at Christmas Village and she does great work at reasonable prices! I'll admit, I'm a little picky when it comes to things in my house and I have had the hardest time finding boy bedding that I like, so I'm excited to be able to have it made the way I want it.

Here's what I'm thinking....

I love the blue, green, and brown combo....LOVE! I'm not too sure about the solid blue fabric, but I love the others. I'll probably add this in to the mix too...

I also want to have letter tiles made that are covered in the same fabrics to spell his name on the wall over his crib.

Here's an example....

but, obviously, they'd coordinate with the bedding we have made. We're also going to pick out a glider after we have the bedding finalized...that way we can take in a fabric sample to make sure the upholstery we pick goes with it. We'll probably just do a khaki color, though, but you never know. ;)

Those are really all the ideas I have for now....well, I have more but am just too tired to go over them right now. It's been a long, but great, day! :-)

I hope you're all having a great weekend! We're supposed to get a little snow tomorrow, but we'll see if that actually happens.....

  1. LOVE the furniture and the bedding choices. The solid blue would be great to just make a few extra little baby blankets if you don't want it as a primary color. Hobby Lobby has a variety of letter styles for the wall...if you didn't know ;) If you used those fabric choices to make the squares with big white letters, it will look awesome! I wish I would've thought to blog about my pregnancy with Sophie...it's so much fun watching your progress!

  2. Thanks Tamara! You're right, the blue would be great for a blanket!! I knew Hobby Lobby had letters, but I didn't know they had different styles. That's something I could easily do myself. It would be fun too. Thanks for your ideas!! It's never too late to start a blog to keep up with HER progress as she grows up! :-) I think you'd love blogging!

  3. They have a couple of different styles of plain wood in the back and prepainted white ones on and end-cap somewhere in the middle of the store. Hahaha...how's that for "girl" directions ;)
